Contemporary Picture Framing

Sam’s work was received so well at the Bloomberg New Contemporaries show in Leeds he was asked to show another of his images from the project spoken about in the last post in the prestigious South London Gallery as part of the continued exhibition.

As with the last frame we mixed a bespoke wood stain to compliment the tones in the image and applied it to the oak frame and glazing spacers with a hand wax finish outer and lacquered inner.

Due to the size of the frame (1.5 x 1.2m) and relatively thin profile required to match the previous work for continuity, we used a strengthening technique on the frame corners known as a corner spline. As well as serving an important function, splines also add a nice detail and mark of quality to our frames.
