The Wilson came to us with a brief to design and produce some frames for the winning artworks of a competition to exhibited in the gallery. The gallery’s creative director wanted the frames to have a modern look, complimenting the contemporary artworks that were in keeping with wider interior ‘feel’ of the the recently renovated gallery space.
The frames we made were hand waxed, maple wood box frames with a birch plywood mount that the curator really felt completed her vision for the exhibition. We float mounted the prints on a spacer to give them more of a physical nature, eluding to the LP album cover aspect that was re-imagined by the winning artists.
We also fabricated some birch plywood picture shelving and two A-frame boards for use in other areas of the gallery.
