This print by Jonas Wood is float mounted in a Maple wood frame, finished with an ash black stain and wax polish.  This custom mix stain is considerably thinner than usual allowing more of the natural character and grain detail of the maple to be visible. This creates a combination between wood and finish that echoes the monochrome tones in the artwork.

While it can be desirable for a frame finish or colour to compliment aspects of the artwork it is important it does not become overbearing. Using an appropriate size moulding (13mm front face) prevents this from happening and maintains a sense of refinement and consideration.
