These ornate gilded frames were brought to us to by a customer who wanted to use them as a starting point to frame their artworks.  We modified each frame in order to create a modern conservation friendly mount area that is isolated from the vintage outer frames.

The Ai Weiwei piece was built up on the reverse to enable us to put in spacer bars and a sub frame / hanging system.

The Sam Jackson artwork had a new frame with a chamfered gold leaf front face, which, when placed into the outer frame creates the effect of a gilded slip between frame and glass.

Despite having a broadly contemporary style, we loved working on these frames as we appreciate the need to recycle and reuse everyday items. We also enjoy when a client comes to us with with their own concept and ideas, it’s a pleasure to realise those ideas for our customers.
